Carbon Monoxide - The Silent Killer

During the winter, the use of heating obviously goes up. The other statistic that tends to go up is the number of wrongful deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning. A lot of these accidents could be prevented with the proper detection equipment. One of the main problems is the failure of detection equipment that may be in place. Carbon monoxide is not detectable by humans. It is invisible and odorless. If you have carbon monoxide detection equipment in place, make sure it is working properly. If you do not, it is important to have it installed.

Don't leave your families safety to chance. The numerous deaths that this silent killer claims each year seems senseless. Leaking pipes release this deadly gas onto unsuspecting victims. If you're awake, you may notice you are becoming light headed and be able to get to fresh air in time. Many victims are caught sleeping. The gas knocks them out and eventually suffocates them.

If you own your own home you need to take precautions yourself. If you live in an apartment complex your landlord may be responsible for supplying this life saving equipment. Do what you can to protect you and your family against this deadly tragedy.
