Contested vs. Uncontested Divorce in Los Angeles
A divorce can be handled in a few different ways and can have many different outcomes. It normally comes down to how you are going to divide the assets amongst the two people. In some cases there are more things to consider than others. For example, a couple that owns a business together is going to have a lot more to divide up than a young couple with very few possessions.
In an uncontested divorce both parties agree to all of the terms of the divorce. An uncontested divorce is much easier on everyone involved even if there is a little give and take. A contested divorce means that one or both of the parties disagree with the terms of the divorce. In these cases, the courts will decide who gets what. If you are in a contested divorce you must understand that you WILL have to comply with the decision of the court. They may give 100% custody to your ex and you will have to live by those terms. If you go the uncontested route, you actually get to have a say in the outcome, even if it isn't perfect.
